Overview
The SD8331 series comprises ultra-low-power mixed-signal processors with peripherals for energy-metering applications. The devices integrate an analog front end, fixed-function DSP solution, enhanced 8052 microcontroller core, RTC, and LCD driver into a single device. The measurement core includes active, reactive, and apparent energy calculations, voltage, RMS current, and frequency measurement. This information can be used for energy billing and other required applications. The device also includes an internal 16-bit timer, LCD segment driver, and hardware multiplier.
SD8331 integrates three gain-setting PGAs from 1 × to 32 × and three 24-bit Σ-Δ A/D converters to provide measurement accuracy and sufficient resolution.
Microprocessor functions include a single-cycle 8052 core, real-time clock, UART, SPI, I2C, and JTAG interfaces. It reduces program-memory requirements and is easy to integrate into complex designs. Programming is simple and supports multiple methods (SPI or JTAG); no external voltage is required for programming.
